Healing Power in 2011

Inhabitants of the Bruce Peninsula Multi-verse

As we close the door on 2010 we'd like to thank all of those who came out to our shows, took the time to explore our recordings and supported the BP vessel as it navigated the waters of a crazy crazy year.

So, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that our plans for 2011 are currently on hold.

Neil Haverty has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia.

The good news is that it is a highly treatable form of cancer that has a 95% success rate associated with Neil's treatment. He is supported by a wide network of friends and family who are standing behind him in this difficult time.

As for the band: We are not breaking up. We will not stop recording. But for the immediate future, all of our touring plans are cancelled while Neil works toward a full recovery.

What Neil needs most right now are positive vibes, well wishes, and love concoctions of the highest caliber. If you are a fan, friend or foe and would like to send Neil some healing power, please send all messages to : neilhaverty@gmail.com

In other band news, our second record is completed and mastered. We also have an EP in the can and ready to go. We will continue recording, collaborating and excavating as Neil recovers.

Steven McKay

Hey everybody.

Just a quick little note to tell you that our drummer Steven McKay is also something of a troubadour. He's got a new solo CD coming out in a week or two and it's great. If you like whistling or Steely Dan or songs about food or low harmonies or just good old fashioned song-craft, you should look into it.

He's having his CD release party in Toronto on Friday, September 17th at the Garrison. If you're in town, you should go. If you're not, just go to his website to find out how to get your hands on it.

Georgia & Leona

Misha wrote and stars in a beautiful new play called Georgia & Leona. BP's number one supporter, Lara Mrkoci, directs and stars as well. It starts it's run at the Factory Studio on Friday, July 2nd. If you're in Toronto, don't miss it. All the information you need is at www.intheroom.ca

Romano / LVD

It's gonna be a while before we have a proper new release from Bruce Peninsula but that doesn't mean we're stagnant. We're well on our way to finishing a host of BP releases but we're all busy otherwise too. Wanted to tell you about two new releases from members of the Bruce...

First up is Daniel Romano's new full-length, Working For The Music Man, which prominently features our own Misha Bower. She's on almost all the tracks and it's a real beautiful piece of art. Visit Dan's myspace to get some more information and keep an eye out for a new Romano 7" called Songs For Misha, which were actually written about our girl. I only mention that because I'm sure it will make her blush.

Next is The Lake Vernon Drowning, which is the solo project of our bass and lapsteel player Andrew Barker. Man of Leisure / Man Of War is a great accomplishment for Andrew and showcases all the other things he can do that you don't hear in Bruce Peninsula. Did you know that his day job is as a guitar teacher? He's also a really great lyricist and programmer. MOL/MOW is a really interesting mix of electronics, guitars and bourbon in the basement at 5am. You can buy it on CD or mp3 here.

Steve is nearly done his own record and it should surface on Fuzzy Logic Recordings any day now. Matt, Amy, Tamara and Daniela have all started their own new solo records as well. All should hopefully start bubbling to the surface over the next few months.

Thanks for supporting our rag-tag crew. Hope it tides you over until the next legit BP recording makes it into the light.

Nassau

For the next two weeks we'll be digging our heads into the sand,
toiling away in the studio and trying to finish our new record.

We have lots of songs to record. Some are just fragments that well
dress up in the room. Others have travelled with us for the better
part of the year.

We are hoping that it all adds up to a full-length. Here's hoping!

Quad Cities

We are just over the river from Rock Island, Illinois, staying at a
hotel / casino in Iowa. We've almost had enough tequila to try our
hand at some slots. Not quite, but soon no doubt.

Today we got up very early to get to our Daytrotter session. What
these guys are doing is amazing. A session or two a day every day for
the last four years meanse over 1000 recordings. They were so kind to
us, even if we felt a little uneasy with the breakneck speed of it
all. We'll post up the results here when they go online. For now,

of bands.

Very much looking toward to Galesburg tomorrow. I hope you're ready

Detroit

Made it across the border today with no trouble. A simple "have fun"
from the border guard and we were on our way.

We seem to be sitting just on the outskirts of Downtown Detroit. A bit
dead here but it Wednesday night and the Majestic are treating us
really well. We were asked if we were French by a local and when we
said no he told us that Detroit was originally a French settlement.
Sounds much more exotic when you pronounce the city name that way.

Anyhow, on to Ann Arbour to sleep tonight and to Chicago tomorrow.

Kickstarted

We officially started recording album two this weekend, though most of it will be done over two weeks in May. The stuff we worked out in the last couple days will also be used in a great new movie. More details on that very soon.

For now, we set our sights on Guelph, Sarnia, Detroit, Chicago and Galesburg! A Daytrotter session thrown in their to boot. We're so excited to go to the States again. If you know anybody in those places, please let them know we're coming. We don't know many people in the US but last time we were there we were floored by everybody's hospitality and general good nature. We can only assume that's about to happen again.
